The amount of diving in Cyprus often surprises many that try it here. Cyprus is typically Mediterranean in climate terms. Its summers are hot and dry and its winters are mild, sometimes wet, but not often. During the summer months, water temperature averages 25C, dropping to 16C in the winter. Visibility ranges between 3m and 35m, with 10-15m being normal. There are no tides of note and diving is mainly affected by wind or local currents. There are numerous sites around Cyprus with depths ranging from 2-40m. Sites include modern wrecks, deep reefs, caves, caverns and a marine reserve. Most fish life is small although turtles, stingray and tuna can often be seen. |
